Alarmion LLC (“Alarmion,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share personal information obtained through our website (alarmion.com), our mobile or web application (the “App”), the ALD (Alarm Listening Device) hardware (the “Device”), and our customer service interactions (collectively, the “Services”). Please read this Policy carefully. If you have questions, contact us at info@alarmion.com.
“Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with you or your household, such as your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, account identifiers, IP address, and other identifiers described in Section 2 below. Personal Information does not include information that has been de-identified, aggregated, or that cannot reasonably be linked to a specific individual or household.
This Privacy Policy works together with our Alarmion Terms of Service and Alarmion Terms of Sale, both available at alarmion.com/legal.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect through alarmion.com, the App, the Device, and our direct interactions with you, including phone, email, and chat. Our Site may link to third-party sites not owned or controlled by Alarmion; we are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies separately.
This Site and Services are not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under the age of 18. If you are under 18, please do not use the Site, App, or Services, or provide us with personal information, except under the supervision of a parent or guardian. We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.
2. Personal Information We Collect
2.1 Information From Anyone Who Visits Our Site
Even if you never purchase a Device, we may collect:
● Identifiers, such as your IP address, device identifiers, and (if you provide it) your name, email, or phone number;
● Internet or network activity, such as pages visited, referring/exit pages, browser and device type, and timestamps;
● Approximate geolocation, derived from your IP address;
● Inferences drawn from the above to understand site usage and interests.
2.2 Information We Collect From Customers and Subscribers
If you purchase a Device or subscribe to Monitoring Services, we additionally collect:
● Identifiers: your name, email address, phone number, billing address, shipping address, and the address where the Device is installed (“Premises”);
● Account information: your username, password, and (if applicable) a verbal password or PIN used to verify your identity with customer service or a Monitoring Provider;
● Payment information: processed and stored by our third-party payment processor; Alarmion itself retains only the last four digits of your payment card and its expiration date;
● Emergency contact information: names and phone numbers of any responding parties or emergency contacts you provide for use in connection with Monitoring Services;
● Device and technical information: your Device’s serial number, firmware version, Wi-Fi network name and signal strength, connectivity status, and similar technical data needed to operate and support the Device;
● Detection event data: the date, time, and fact that the Device detected a Listed Code (a recognized alarm sound pattern) and transmitted a signal. The Device does not record, store, or transmit audio; see Section 3 below;
● Approximate geolocation: derived from your Device’s IP address, used solely to detect an unexpected change in the Device’s location, which can indicate fraud or an unauthorized transfer of the Device between residences;
● Commercial information: your order and purchase history, and your Monitoring Services plan and status;
● Communications: records of your calls, emails, texts, or chats with our customer service team, including call recordings and chat transcripts, retained as described in Section 11.
2.3 Sensitive Personal Information
Under certain state privacy laws, some categories of Personal Information are treated as “Sensitive Personal Information,” such as government identification numbers, precise geolocation, account log-in credentials, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health information, sexual orientation, and biometric or genetic data. The only category of Sensitive Personal Information Alarmion collects in the ordinary course is your account log-in credentials (your email address in combination with your password) and, if you voluntarily provide it in response to a survey or promotion, information such as your age, gender, or demographic information. Alarmion does not collect government identification numbers, biometric or genetic data, health information, or precise geolocation. The approximate, IP-derived location described in Section 2.2 is not “precise geolocation”: it is not derived from GPS, GNSS, Wi-Fi triangulation, or similar precision-location technology, and it does not locate the Device within the narrow radius (generally 1,850 feet or less) that defines precise geolocation under applicable state law. Your Sensitive Personal Information is not used for any purpose incompatible with the purposes described in this Privacy Policy unless we provide additional notice or obtain your consent as required by law.
3. Audio and Video: Current Practice and Future Features
Unlike camera-based security products, the ALD does not currently capture, store, or transmit audio or video. The Device is designed only to acoustically recognize the sound pattern of your existing alarm siren (a “Listed Code”) and, upon recognition, transmit a signal indicating that event occurred. As of the date of this Privacy Policy, no audio recording or audio clip is created, stored on the Device, stored on Alarmion’s servers, or transmitted to Alarmion, any Monitoring Provider, or any other third party at any time.
Alarmion may in the future develop products, firmware, or features that use machine learning or other artificial intelligence techniques and that could involve the capture or processing of audio (for example, to improve detection accuracy). If we introduce any such feature, we will update this Privacy Policy to describe what is captured, how it is processed and retained, and with whom (if anyone) it is shared, and we will provide clear notice, and obtain your consent where required by law, before that feature is enabled for your account. Until that notice is provided and, where required, your consent obtained, no such audio capture or processing will occur.
4. Monitoring Services and Data Sharing with Our Monitoring Provider
If you subscribe to professional Monitoring Services, Alarmion shares the information necessary to provide that service, such as your name, Premises address, emergency contact and responding-party information, and detection event data, with an independent, separately licensed third-party monitoring company (“Monitoring Provider”) so that it can carry out dispatch and notification functions. The Monitoring Provider’s own privacy and data-handling practices are governed by its agreement with you and with Alarmion, not by this Privacy Policy.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information described above to:
● provide, operate, and maintain the Device, App, and Services, including transmitting detection events and providing Monitoring Services;
● create and manage your account, and process your orders and payments;
● communicate with you about your order, Device, account, or Monitoring Services, including service and safety-related notices;
● provide customer support and respond to your requests;
● detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, unauthorized use, or unexpected relocation of a Device;
● improve and develop our products, Site, and App, and perform analytics and research;
● advertise and market our products and services, and send you communications about products, services, and offers we think may be of value to you, subject to your choices described in Section 7;
● comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
6. Sharing Your Information
We may share personal information with:
● our Monitoring Provider, as described in Section 4, if you subscribe to professional Monitoring Services;
● service providers who perform functions on our behalf, such as payment processing, order fulfillment, hosting, customer relationship management, and SMS/email delivery;
● strategic and marketing partners and other third parties whose products, services, or offers we think may be of value to you;
● advertising networks and analytics partners, such as Meta (Facebook) and Google, to measure and deliver advertising tailored to your interests, as described in Section 7;
● a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of some or all of our assets, in which case your Personal Information may be transferred as part of that transaction;
● law enforcement, regulators, or other third parties where required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Alarmion, our customers, or the public.
We do not sell or share the Sensitive Personal Information described in Section 2.3 for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16 years of age. For the avoidance of doubt, we do not sell or share personal information obtained through short code text messaging for marketing purposes, except as described in Section 8.
7. Cookies, Advertising, and Your Choices Regarding Tracking
We and our advertising partners use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies on our Site to measure the performance of our advertising and to show you ads about Alarmion on other websites and platforms, including through Meta (Facebook) and Google advertising tools, and we belong to ad networks that may use your browsing history across participating sites to show you interest-based advertising. This activity may constitute a “sale” or “share” of personal information under California and other state privacy laws.
You can opt out of this tracking at any time by using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer of our Site, or by enabling the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in a supported browser, which we will honor as an opt-out request for that browser. Opting out will not affect your ability to use the Device, App, or Monitoring Services, and will not change the price you pay. Our Site is not currently designed to respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, which are distinct from GPC; we honor GPC as described above regardless of whether Do Not Track is also enabled.
If you are a California resident, the Shine the Light law permits you to request, once per calendar year, information about any Personal Information we may have shared with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, including the categories of information shared and the names of those businesses. To make such a request, contact info@alarmion.com.
8. Text Messages and Marketing Communications
If you provide your phone number, you may receive account, service, and (if you opt in) marketing text messages from Alarmion. Your consent to receive marketing text messages, and any information you provide as part of that opt-in, will not be shared with any third party for purposes unrelated to delivering that messaging campaign. We may share this information with vendors who help us send text messages on our behalf (such as messaging platform providers), subject to confidentiality obligations.
You can opt out of marketing text messages at any time by replying STOP, and out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Certain account and service-related messages, including safety-related notices, cannot be opted out of while you maintain an active account.
9. Third-Party Sites and Social Media
Our Site may link to or include features from third-party sites and social media platforms. Those sites and platforms may collect information about you independently of Alarmion, and your interactions with them are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
10. Security of Your Information
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information you provide to us.
11. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. The criteria we use to determine retention periods include the length of our relationship with you, any legal obligation to retain the information, and whether retention is necessary to support our legal position (such as applicable statutes of limitations or litigation).
For example:
● Detection event data (timestamp and Listed Code triggered) is retained for the duration of your active account and deleted within ninety (90) days of account cancellation, except where longer retention is required by law or necessary to resolve a dispute;
● Customer service call recordings and chat transcripts are retained for up to six (6) months from the date of the interaction;
● Account, billing, and order information may be retained longer where required for tax, accounting, warranty, or other legal purposes.
12. California and Other State Privacy Rights
If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, or another state with an applicable privacy law, you may have some or all of the following rights:
● the right to know what personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, or sold/shared about you, and why;
● the right to correct inaccurate personal information;
● the right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions;
● the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and of targeted advertising;
● the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information;
● the right to receive a portable copy of your personal information;
● the right to appeal a denial of any of the above requests, by replying to our denial notice with the word “Appeal” or by contacting info@alarmion.com; we will respond to appeals within the time required by applicable law.
To exercise these rights, use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in our Site footer, or contact us at info@alarmion.com. We will verify your identity before fulfilling a request, using information such as your account email, order number, or Device serial number. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights, and doing so will not affect the price or quality of the Services available to you.
13. Managing Your Information and Account
You can review and update your account information by logging into the App or your account on alarmion.com.
You may close your account at any time by contacting info@alarmion.com. If you close your account, we will stop using your account information to provide the Services, but we may retain certain information as described in Section 11 or as required by law.
14. Visitors From Outside the United States
Our Site, App, and Services are hosted and operated in the United States and are intended for use by residents of the United States. If you access the Site, App, or Services from outside the United States, your Personal Information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Site, App, or Services, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We review this Privacy Policy at least annually and may update it from time to time. We will post the revised Policy at alarmion.com and update the “Last Updated” date above. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice, such as an email or a prominent notice on our Site or App.
